The fragile beauty and translucency of flowers was initially captured using back lighting during the photographic process. The images were further manipulated and arranged in Photoshop to achieve a certain immediacy and vibrancy that we have become familiar with when viewing screen based images. The image was then painstakenly transfered to canvas using muliple glazes.Not with standing the contempory nature of the image there is also a harkening back to the great period of Dutch flower painting which also uses the way light plays on the forground subject matter against a dark background.
