The giant sculptural ants’ nest was created in the foyer of the New England Regional Art Museum from 16 August to 19 October, 2015.  The nest was made of cardboard and paper pulp. The audience was invited to create ants, larvae or other life stages and put them in tunnels and chambers to grow the colony. Battery powered ants lived in the nest and while animated laser projected ants floated over the surface.

The North Western Regional Science Hub presented this as “Science Meets Art” event at NERAM to celebrate National Science Week (and beyond) – introducing children to the School of Ants Project through an interactive and creative experience exploring the life of ants.
